Oh My! These biscuits are incredibly good and so easy to make! They are moist and fluffy and oh, so yummy. They were even good the next day. I will be making these babies on a regular basis. 7 Up Biscuits from Plain Chicken
2 cups Bisquick
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup 7-up
1/4 cup melted butter
Cut sour cream into biscuit mix, add 7-Up. Makes a very soft dough.
Sprinkle additional biscuit mix on board or table and pat dough out into the same size/shape as the pan you are going to bake them in. Cut biscuts into squares.
Melt 1/4 cup butter and pour in a 9 inch square pan. Place cut biscuits in pan, they will be touching, and bake at 450 degrees until golden brown (approx 15 minutes).
Note: I usually double this recipe and bake in a 9x13 pan as shown in the picture.

Janelle - when do you cut the biscuits. I NEVER make homemade biscuits, and if I do, I just drop them. It looks like these were pre-cut before baking.
Oops, I left that part out. I roll the dough out in a 9x13 rectangle and cut them in 12 pieces. Then I place them in the pan to bake. These are soooo yummy! :)
Janelle,
I thought you would like to know that your picture and recipe has been taken and used on FB as someone else's. They have received almost 12,000 shares all leading back to them and not you!
Here's the link...

A friend sent her the picture, she didn't know where it came from. She is now referring the recipe to my blog. I got the recipe from Plain Chicken's blog. It is a popular recipe. All is well :)
Yep, the FB link I used got me here too !! I'm making these this morning !!
do you know the calorie intake or any of the nutritional? I run a weightloss group and would love to share this recipe
!
I've made similar recipe for years using plain soda water and yogurt. A few less calories. I like that, unlike regular biscuits, they can be warmed over the next day for sausage biscuits or egg McMuffins.
You can look here for the nutritional values.

They are not diet food but I am sure you can decrease the calories/fat like Mary Ann said by using club soda and yogurt or fat free sour cream. I have only made them the way I posted. Or you can just cut them smaller for smaller servings?
For zero calories you could go with Sprite zero. I like the idea of the yogurt.
Thanks for the recipe, I don't care where it came from and don't mind anyone sharing mine.
I have to try this recipe!! I already use Sprite in my Bisquick for waffles. Follow the waffle recipe on the back of the Bisquick box but use Sprite or 7Up instead of milk or water. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!
I made these biscuits tonite with chicken alfredo. Best biscuits I've ever had and super easy to make. I hated making biscuits until doing these! Thanks!!!!!
For those who are glueten free there is a glueten free bisquick. I can't wait to try these for my
GF hubby.
Getting ready try tomorrow for first time. I have made the kind that I have let raise for hours then bake. We shall see how I do.
Although I cannot stand it to drink, I used cream soda in pancakes with fantastic results.
Omg.... first time making these few minutes ago for family supper & they are the best ones ever... :) thx
Do you need to prepare the pan in some way?
So I needed a quick easy biscuit recipe for a church dinner & my mother sent me this link off of FB.... these were AWESOME! I did change the recipe a bit due to ingredients I had on hand as I try to avoid using sour cream I replaced that with lemon-creme greek yogurt & the juice of one lime, Also I used seltzer water instead of 7-up as already had that on hand.. and finally I omitted the butter for browning b/c I added cheddar cheese & fresh chives as I had purchased these items before finding a recipe intent on using them as my flavoring ingredients... but all in still they were simple, quick, & came out very fluffy... I would not have known to make them with seltzer had it not been for the inspiration here... thanks for posting =)
Why pat them out and cut them just to put them back in the pan touching? I'd think that if you put the butter in the pan, patted the dough out into the pan and then cut them in the pan, you'd have it done in a shorter amount of time. No muss no fuss
It was REALLY soft & hard to get in the pan, is it ok to add extra flour?
Morgan, that sounds much easier and less clean-up
I don't know about adding extra flour because I shape my dough out in Bisquick instead of flour. So, if the dough is too sticky you could add more Bisquick. The dough is very soft, you don't want the dough too stiff or they might bake up dry. They bake up nice and soft and about melt in your mouth :)
I being a health nut substituted yogurt for sour cream & used a flavored sparkling water for the 7-up. I however have made both version, both are great tasting and super easy to make.
Being the dough is so soft I just added a little of the butter to the baking dish & patted the dough out right in the pan & cut to desired width. I added the remaining butter in the areas that was cut to keep dough separated. Very simple & easier to handle dough as soft as it is.
Sweet mother Mary. I just made these and my life has been changed forever. These are so freakin' good!!!
Made these over the weekend for guests visiting and had them hooked!! Made them as bread for spaghetti dinner as well, but added garlic, cheese and parsley and oh my! A hit! Thanks so much for sharing!
I plopped the dough from the bowl, into the pan, press to fit pan, cut into squares and bake.
Just made them for dinner. I subbed with diet 7up and light sour cream...yum! Whole family enjoyed...will be making more! Thanks for posting this recipe :)
Thought you might want to know, this page uses a different (doubled) recipe, but stole your photo, and is using it to sell a weight-loss scam:

Ya, I have seen my photo all over Facebook & Pinterest sometimes linking it to my blog but many times linking to places other than my blog. Too bad I'm not getting any royalties from it, ha ha.. I don't know if there is any way to manage who gets a hold of my picture but I do appreciate it when it is properly linked to my blog. I did take the picture but I got the recipe from another blog, which I have credited in my post. Thanks for your concern. That's too bad my picture is being used for spam :(
I have Jiffy biscuit mix on hand. Would I be able to use this instead of bisquick?
Yes Vicky, I have used other all purpose baking mixes with good results. Enjoy!
Love the recipe! For anyone wondering, when made according to the recipe with no subs they taste EXACTLY like KFC biscuits
Janelle, can you use krusteaz
pancake mix instead of bisquick?
I don't believe that pancake mix would work, it needs to be an all purpose baking mix like Bisquick
I almost never use sour cream in anything. I prefer a sweeter flavor. Could I substitute cream cheese?
I think that would make them very dense. These are very light and soft. The 7 up sweetens the rolls a little so I think you'll like them with the sour cream.
I followed the directions except I put the melted butter in the pan and spread out the dough and cut them while in the pan. Other than that, it was simple, easy and most of all amazing!!!!! I tried one batch with my family and ended up having to make two additional batches! This was a major hit. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
My dough turned out way too soft and sticky to roll...would a little extra bisquick help?
Can you make these a day ahead and refrigerate them and bake next day?
Has anyone tried freezing these? I'd like to try it for my ready to reheat sausage egg & cheese biscuits for my boys.
Are there any other sodas that i could substitute for 7-up?
Have made biscuits since i could walk (well almost ;) My family said i will not go back to the old way. LOL Thank you! :) i did roll them out too thin but wont next time. Love them! from Pinterest
Does the soda make the biscuits too sweet?
My dough always turns out more like cake batter. I just pour it in the pan and bake as usual. Delicious! Caren Memmoit, no, it does not make it sweet.
I don't use Bisquick - is there a substitute such as flour, baking powder, etc?
These sound wonderful although I do not like biscuits that are sweet. I don't like changing recipes the first time but I'm making an exception this time by trying plain soda.
It's Thanksgiving morning and I am taken to our family dinner. Can I make the dough, put them in the pan and take to family's house to bake? or will they lose something?
I just made them at home and will heat when it is dinnertime. Just want to say...it looked like a big gloppy mess especially when put on top of all the butter....but like majic the turned into beautiful biscuits!!!!!They should be called "Magic Biscuits"!!!!!!
What a fantastic idea!
This recipe has been around for a long time...my mom made them when I was in college...I'm 46
There are two oven temperatures listed. Which is correct 425 or 450?
Made these for Mother's Day dinner and they are a melt in your mouth buttery taste, absolutely phenomenal. The only thing I changed was I used Sprite Zero since I did not have 7-Up. Best biscuits ever!
Has anyone used them for biscuits and gravy?
Has anyone used them for biscuits and gravy?
Unfortunately I have never seen bisquick here in South Africa.....can anyone help me with a substitute for it? Maybe the amount of flour etc.?
Laurette Fourie, Bisquick is a pre-mixed base of dry ingredients for biscuits and pancakes. You can make it yourself by combining the dry ingredients for any biscuit or pancake recipe and storing in a sealed container. For a larger quantity just double, triple, etc. When a recipe calls for Bisquick just use your own DIY pre-mix. Simple as that!
I should add: when more than tripling a biscuit or pancake recipe the baking soda and/or baking powder can become over-powering so may be reduced slightly. As a guess, I'd say 1/4-1/2 tsp after an amount of 6 cups of flour is used or something like that. Use your own judgement or experiment. It may not be necessary to reduce the bs or bp. Good luck.
i use a ice cream scoop. no rolling no mess. be sure and spray the ice cream scoop. one recipe goes into a 8 or 9in pan. these are wonderful, marvelous, awesome, easy and i make them all the time. cream soda works fine too.
I had to use club soda as a sub and didn't have any extra bisquick for rolling out. I used self rising flour to work the dough and it seems fine. Was very leary of all that butter but they look awesome. I thought they would rise a little more but they are still great.
Just put these in the oven to go with beef stew. They look wonderful!!
Has anyone ever added garlic powder and cheddar cheese to this recipe for a garlic cheddar biscuit? If you have, just wondering about measurements...
I have made these for years and the recipe was given to me by someone who worked at Popeyes Fried chicken here in the south. They do taste just like that franchise’s biscuits. KFC’s biscuits actually have a similar texture but taste like a preservative is used in them, so l’m thinking they aren’t KFC’s recipe.
Alternatively I have used 7up, Sprite or any like carbonated drink for the liquid . And I have used whatever biscuit mix I have on hand instead of the Bisquick brand. I also hand roll them and add melted butter on top.
That's how I make them and they're awesome
